Whit the Travel to the North effect on them, it is ok.

I see worse Level 13 characters pretending you to make Vizunah Square for them. They should put that effect to in those missions where you can't choose the other team.

I thought I'd Q this for T.

EOTN isn't hard, you can finish it in a day. Why is everyone caring so much about level 10's playing it? It's not like it's level 10's at DoA farming it, or something.

then can't this event be used to powerlevel in GW:EN in several minutes from level 10 to 20 by dwarven boxing and due to the fact, that dieing in dwarven boxing doesn't count as DEATH...powerleveling at this is the most easiest way to receive massive amounts of exp for the survivor title ...

NO, just no, this event is anet typical shit....and they ignore their own concepts ...just for promotion >.<
that was funny...you were joking right lol

i dont think what your suggesting would entice people to try the game..why would they waste there time to achieve nothing.

how is it lazy?

when players like myself(started level 10) played through all primary quest till i leveled to level 20 with only H/H, then continued on to beat Great Destroyer and got new armor(nothing lazy about that)..i played, earned and enjoyed completing all primary, looking forward now to completing dungeons.

Anets game they can do whatever they want..

Visit the Eye of the North for the Holidays
Have you longed to venture to the Eye of the North, but don't yet have a level 20 character? Then you're in luck! To help spread some holiday cheer, we're lowering the level requirement for the expansion, and giving everyone a present as well: a five-hour trial of GW:EN!
But that's not all! To kick off the celebration with a bang, we're holding a special Eye of the North in-game event! Starting this weekend, you can earn bonus experience, increase your chances to acquire rare items from chests, and find special items dropped by creatures throughout the expansion areas. Better yet, this event lasts until Sunday, December 16. That's ten days of holiday cheer!
So keep your panties on, relax, it's just a temporary promotion thing. Also a good way for Anet to test how playing in area's will work when low and high level players enter it, as might be the case in GW2!

The lvl reduction is perminant... read all the literature and it says perminant. The trial however for non GWEN orners is not perminant and only for xmas as a pressy.

How ever that begs the question.. does any GWEN packaging say you have to be lvl20 to enter?

This thread is hilarious.

Entire thread in a nutshell: All sides

QQers: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah they allowed more access to people who I wouldn't deal with if they were allowed in in the first place WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Pro-under level 10s: Who the f cares, STFU, its about fun, level doesn't matter. RAWR!

Although my loyalties lie with the new update as being cool and at the same time I don't care because it doesn't and never will affect me, I really think this thread is dead. So you get an influx of people coming in to Gwen? Its not like you will go out into an instance and suddenly its all persistent world with noobs everywhere. The only people this affects are the ones with < 20 level chars, noobs or vets. Who gives a damn? The buff restricts choice of atts, which then encourages people to develop restrictive strats and eventually unfold into balanced 20s with full stats (and buff removed).

All the QQers are just repeating themselves while the Pro-underL10s are providing superior arguments and repeating themselves.

This isn't loot scaling people, it doesn't affect every player in the GW universe, only those intended to target.

how this effects the entire community is the mind set of it, the thought of allowing it, and possibly spreading it..... that is how it effects everyone... look at inscribable weapons... started in nightfall, now ppl crying for all ingame items to be that way... look at how that slight change effective the entire economy of the game...

that is why many ppl, as myself, are upset about the buffs... whats next?

Permanent! Hmmmmmm

I'm sitting on the fence on this one, I don't agree with it on moral grounds, going back on what they said 'an all. I think I'd be fine with it if there had never been a level rq for EOTN but you didn't get a buff. Even in Factions the leveling-up process is a learning curve, you've got to learn how to place your attributes and skills properly. If you don't do it at the beginning you'll find it hard later on.

I'm happy with it for now but I'm worried about GW2.

I hope they don't go this way in GW2. I like grind-free, don't get me wrong. But I feel you do need something to work towards, whether it be titles or levels. WoW holds itself together with the leveling process, and I'm hoping in GW2 they extend leveling so you don't max out ever, so you've always got something to look forward to. In proph the leveling takes a long time, it feels good to earn a lvl, you can't wait until the next one to boost the power of your skills. It's good anticipation and it makes the game feel like it's leaning to something, like you're getting stronger. I know a few of my friends that played GW didn't like it because you never got "uber" or strong, you were just another hero, with mediocre abilites.

Here's an metaphor for extra fast leveling. Imagine you got all your birthday presents for life in one go, sure it might seem great for a while, but they'd get old. There'd be nothing to look forward too. I'm glad I got to play my Ele through proph ,slowly, way back when the game was new. I learnt slowly but enjoyed myself, and my knowledge of skills and attributes grew over the levels into what they are now.

I'm starting to feel that GW is becoming a game for veterans, not newbies. The learning curve is so high and so fast you barely get a chance to learn about things before you're level 20 and fighting evil gods for the fate of the world. I know most vets want to lvl fast on their new chars, to get them ready for farming/groups or whatever, but personally I really like the slower lvling and I wish it wasn't being fazed out.

Just my 1p (being English an all :P )

I'm pretty sure that won't happen, as the level cap will be much higher than in GW. (Lev. 10 boost to level 20 in one thing, Level 20 to level 50? That won't fly). Besides, if they did that, they might as well not have levels at all, which even though might not be a bad idea, I don't think it's something the majority of MMORPG players want.

Some people are comparing this to the "Sidekick" boost supposedly happening in GW2, but in order to be a sidekick, you can't be as powerful as the "Hero", and it would have to be a % boost, not a static boost like the GWEN one is.

To be honest, Leveling was practically phased out in Factions. I love Prophecies, but the campaign feels very long to me after Factions. I like being able to level up fast and get to the "real" part of the game.

Guild Wars is in an awkward position: There's not enough leveling for people who want it, and too much leveling for people who don't (IMO).

Inscribable weapons were MEANT to affect the entire game. Retroactively inscribing weapons might be a lot harder than a lot of people assume.

I find it funny that the QQers sole definable argument is that the "economy" is destroyed. Let me put something out to you, not as ego, but as experience. I have played this game since the early Betas, and let me tell you, everything seems to destroy the economy, and I still see plenty of people buying and selling things for way too much. Your emphasis on economy makes yourself seem shallow and your arguments worthless. If you can not adapt to a sudden change in an economy, then you are worthless to an economy.

This is entirely ignoring the fact that this will have no impact on the economy. I guarantee it. And yes, I know you didn't say the word economy, but that is what you mean by "mindset" of the community. I guarantee it. At this point I could be the Men's Warehouse.

to the "economy" comment - plain and simple math - the more people play, the more items/weapons/rares will drop - the lower their value will go - it's unavoidable. Drops in prices whether things be insc or non-insc is a forgone conclusion you can't avoid. That is why the people who know how to get coin IG know as soon as they get a rare (unless it's a nerf) - sell that sucker asap, because 99% of the time, the value of it will only go down.

The lvl 10 thing, I really don't care, but it's seems contradictory - unecessarily because they called gwen an "expansion" and were so adamant about it being for existing, lvl 20 people from the other games. But, whatever...

And the people Anet seems to be pandering too - god mode- crowd I want nothing apart of. I was planning on getting EoTN after ascending in Prophecies, but now I see no reason too, for the same reason I didnt get factions or Nightfall, because its not more content to do, like adding more harder areas to the game with greater rewards, its just "another" area to do like Nightfall or factions which is not what I was looking for in an expansion. That and the 5 hour trial that expired on me before I even had a chance to enter EoTN kinda tipped me off $40 wasnt worth the content. Level 1's should be able to enter EoTN, but they shouldnt get any buffs, whats next? why not have everyone start at 20 and buff us to near max armor, give us near max weapons so we can play the end game content we payed for? ....

waiting for GW2, not going to support crap though.

Thats ignorance at its best, complaining about ingame beggars but too cheap to buy a chapter, generalizing about people who get powerleveled, about the economy, etc

I'd say it's a successful promotion by Anet. I actually played a character on my storage account which is Prophecies-only using the free trial key, and now I'm thinking I may buy GW:EN for that account too, along with NF and Factions. It reminded me of playing early on in Prophecies a couple years ago except with better loot and tougher monsters.
